Mouse Paint

Our Kinder kiddos tried themselves in primary and secondary colors and learned the basics of mixing colors.

We read the book "Mouse Paint" by Ellen Stoll Walsh and turned the story into a literature-art session.

The kids learned that mixing blue, yellow and red creates orange, green and purple ... and also
A LOT of fun :)

The little guys understood the concept of mixing very quickly but the attempt to create three flowers with the newly mixed colors was a bit harder.

BUT the heart of the lesson was not about drawing the "perfect" flower but rather to get hands-on experience with paint, mixing, cleaning your brush before dipping it into the next color and to make magic happen on your white piece of paper.

And that they did indeed!
Bravo to all of our Kinder kiddos!

Room 2 makes it's mark

Room 2 was second in line to make their marks and these little people have something great in store for you.
We used the same lesson as in Room 1 and here are the masterpieces of Room2.

Absolutely amazing work for 5 and 6 year olds!

Room 1 makes it's mark

WELCOME BACK!!!!

Yeah, we are up and running again, with our own art room, our very devoted volunteers and many, many projects in store we are ready to make yet another art attack on Curtner.

The NEW Kinder kids started their first lesson last week and I am excited to showcase their artist marks  as my first post in the school year of 2012/13.

We did a literature-art lesson based on the book "The Dot" by Peter H. Reynolds.

After reading the intriguing story of Vashti, the kid who said "I can't draw" the kids got handed a white sheet of paper, a colorful circle (aka the dot) and markers and were asked to make THEIR MARK.
