Room 1, Room 1, what do you hear?

I hear 33 Polar Bears roaring with no fear!

Room 1 had chosen the Polar Bears out of the Eric Carle series and ended up with quite an awesome line up of fearsome and cute Polar Bears, with the help of the awesome Polar Bear Tamer Mrs. Lutex :)

They also had made colored paper with blue and white for the background and used plain white paper (they added some texture by adding thicker white paint to the white paper) for the Polar Bears.
Today they traced the bears onto the white paper and then added faces and a few hairs here and there for a more "furry"effect.
A lot of the kids added a scarf, shoes or a bow to their Polar Bears which really was a great idea since it added a splash of color to the masterpiece.

Room 2, Room 2, what do you see?

I see 33 Panda Bears looking at me!

A few weeks ago our Kinder kids of room 2 had started this project and today we finally were able to finish our Panda Bears.

This project is based on the "What do you see?" book series by Eric Carle.
Each Kinder class used one book out of the series.
Room 2 chose "Panda Bear, Panda Bear what do you see?"

First our little people made green colored paper.
We used different shades of green and different ways of applying the paint.

We added some yellow for contrast and used all sorts of tools, like sponges, combs and brushes to make patterns with.

Then we made black paper and added a few white speckles.

We used toothbrushes and strainers to create the speckle effects.

This was such a FUN and MESSY project.

Today we traced the body and head of the Panda onto plain, white paper and the legs onto the colored black paper we had made and cut them out.
We assembled the Pandas on the colored green papers and gave them happy faces, ears and googly eyes.

After the kids had completed their masterpieces we took a tour through the Room 2 Panda Zoo and looked at each and every Panda, admiring the artists amazing work.
The kids had so much fun looking at their little Panda exhibit and so did we.
